Broken

The shatter of a glass,

Smashing a window,

The cracking of glass shoes

And the bang of a phone colliding with the ground.

What do they all have in common?

Broken pieces.

Broken like my heart.

What causes more pain than a broken heart?

A lost love, puppy, or friend?

What about betrayal?

Broken and betrayed.

Both have a strong and undying connection

With an unknown bond to us humans.

No one ever sees it coming until it hits,

Hard as stone.

Broken and betrayed by the one you love.

Broken and betrayed by people you care for.

But, worst of all,

Broken and betrayed by everything you’ve ever known.
